But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. brimstone BRIM'STONE, n. Sulfur; a hard, brittle, inflammable substance, of a lemon yellow color, which has no smell, unless heated, and which becomes negatively electric by heat and friction. It is found, in great quantities, and sometimes pure, in the neighborhood of volcanoes. In Dante’s Inferno the allegory I have used thru out this book, Dante experienced the sounds and smells of hell—the rotting flesh, sulfuric stench. The Bible uses the word "Gehenna," which means the "Valley of Hinnom" and refers to a garbage dump on the outskirts of ancient Jerusalem. Hinnom stood in for the underworld because of its topography—as the lowest point in the area, it served as the spiritual counterpoint for the high ground of the temple mount. The same sort of reasoning imagined hell at the very center of the Earth, in a fiery and sulfurous pit. Hell was made for Satan and his demons. In Matthew 25:41, Jesus said “Depart from me; ye cursed into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” About a century or two before the birth of Christ. Satan almost certainly gets his rotten scent from his underworld lair, described in the Book of Revelation as a "lake of burning sulfur." Hell as such does not appear in the Old Testament, but the book of Genesis does recount how God "rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah." The idea of a sulfurous Hell ruled by an archvillain called Satan seems to have arisen at some point in the period between when the two sacred texts were written—probably in the first or second centuries B.C. The Apocryphal Books of Enoch, for example, talk about a place of punishment with "rivers of fire" and "a smell of sulfur." The most foul odors rise from hell the flames heat the acid which smells like rotten eggs, rotting flesh burning with sulfuric acid that never goes out, The garbage dump where all bodies were dumped after death outside the walls of the city, where the rats gnawed at the flesh and the flies swarmed over the empty eye sockets as the worms slither in and out. Hard to imagine that anyone would even want to visit there much less live there eternally, but many chose to .As the acid stench swirls in the air air thick with smoke and the rotting burning flesh of the damned, there is really only one word for it—revolting, The fire also has a vivid description: The exact features of this fire are surely not the same kind we have in this world because it is described here that it is “unquenchable” (Mark 9:44). Another features of hell that also go along with this unquenchable fire are worms that do not die (Mark 9:48), feeling of weeping and gnashing of teeth (Luke 13:28), and “outer darkness” (Matthew 25:30). Since the fall of man, the teachings of the truths of God are always unpopular to many. Man hates the light (John 3) and loves darkness, and so his heart naturally rejects the teachings especially those about sin and eternal consequence. Audacious preaching’s and earth-shaking sermons about these hard truths are common to be labeled as “dogmatic close-minded opinions”. These truths are repulsive to the world and even inside many self-professing Christian churches. Paul had prophesied that in the last days, people will “gather to themselves teachers having itching ears.” (2 Timothy 4:3) This has com e to pass with such rapid speed it is overwhelming. Today, millions mock and jeer at the thought of hell and the fact it is an eternal flame, which will never go out. The fact that it will never go out do not be lulled to a false sense of security that there will be light from the fire—sadly this is anything but the truth. Man “loveth darkness” because he simply hates the light. He hates the true light of the word because it exposes his sin. He loves sin and so he just creates a god of his own, other than the God of the Bible. He separates himself from the True God. God is just and so very fair, but also he is a God is wrath. Psalm 7:11 speaks that “God is angry with the wicked every day. (KJV)” Also in Romans 1, Paul starts his gospel message, not with love, but with wrath. It would be unreasonable to know a person and only his “good side” is accepted by people. The same with God, it is not only for us to know His love, but His anger, wrath and hatred to sin Many Christians today only wanted to hear about God’s love but not His Holy anger. This is not an unreasonable description. Underground volcanic activity can release plumes of sulfurous gas, as rocks heat up in the absence of significant oxygen. Sulfur doesn't always smell bad—given enough oxygen, it generally takes the form of an inoffensive sulfate. When sulfur is given off from these hot underground sources, it comes in the stinky, rotten-eggs varieties of hydrogen sulfide or pure sulfur gas. (Think of a smelly, bubbling hot spring.) Gregory I, who became pope in 590 C.E., made the connection between volcanoes and hell more explicit. In his Dialogues, he describes a sinner "thrown into Vulcan's gulph" on one of the volcanic islands north of Sicily. The idea that Satan had a strong odor is consistent with ancient attitudes about smell .The Lord tells Moses to prepare an anointing oil "blended as by the perfumer" consisting of liquid myrrh, cinnamon, cassia, and olive oil. Rotten-smelling gases like hydrogen sulfide would have been associated with moral corruption. The fires of hell and the subsequent of stench of sulfur and rotting flesh, fire is also a purging and cleansing feature. In Washington D.C. one can view the eternal flame which is a tribute to the late President John F. Kennedy, murdered by greed, power and other factors. I only mention this tribute to point one to Jesus. A wonderful way to remember someone, however it is fed by an underground gas pipeline ,to continually keep the flame burning., so in reality it is a ‘fake’ eternal flame. As this is fake, The Bible uses the word "Gehenna," which means the "Valley of Hinnom" and refers to a garbage dump on the outskirts of ancient Jerusalem. Hinnom stood in for the underworld because of its topography—as the lowest point in the area, it served as the spiritual counterpoint for the high ground of the temple mount. The same sort of reasoning imagined hell at the very center of the Earth, in a fiery and sulfurous pit. The idea that Satan had a strong odor is consistent with ancient attitudes about smells. A connection between sweet, dry smells and the divine goes back to the Greek epics, and it shows up in precise terms in the Old Testament: The Lord tells Moses to prepare an anointing oil "blended as by the perfumer" consisting of liquid myrrh, cinnamon, cassia, and olive oil. Rotten-smelling gases like hydrogen sulfide would have been associated with moral corruption, so to the lulling of the lost feeling that they can never experience the fires of hell. The stench of hell is very real and if you encounter a witch or a voodoo practitioner you will notice the unmistakable stench of rotten eggs, signifying from whence they came and where they will spend eternity. The stench cannot be masked by perfume, it is overwhelming and the stench of garlic is just as strong. The time has come to make a life changing life altering decision not just for you but your loved ones as well. I speak in love and pray you make the right decision, imagine swirling in the rotten sulphric acids in the darkness, is unimaginable POINTS TO PONDER: 1- The Father speaks of a sweet fragrance ascending before the throne of God. What kind of fragrance or do you give off? 2- Does the mere thought of hell and its stench bring a chill to your soul? 3- Does the smell of rotten eggs turn your stomach? Father May this reader come to the realization you ARE love and justice and do deal swiftly with sin .YOU will never leave us or forsake us not now not ever, but will forgive freely all who come to him. Keep this reader and their family in the palm of your hand and bless them beyond measure. In Jesus Name A-men 2 Peter 3:9 King James Version (KJV)9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. YES this means YOU!!
