bad preachers

Guidelines for discerning a Bad Pastor by David Cox God wants us (His people) to understand what the ministry of oversight is all about, and to make sure that those who are in a position of oversight fulfill their God given duties FAITHFULLY. We can discern from God's word what would amount to a serious warning if the spiritual leader steps out of line. KJV Ezekiel 34:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks? 3 Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. 4 The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. 5 And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered. 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them. 7 Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; 8 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; 9 Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; 10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them. 11 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. This passage of Scripture was written for the Old Testament leaders of God's people. It is written specifically against "the shepherds of Israel". "Shepherd" is the same word as "pastor". This would define what the concept of shepherd or pastor is, as God sees it. Failure to fulfill this task brings railing condemnation against that pastor. From this we too can learn much about New Testament church oversight (i.e. pastors). Beware when your pastor ... 1. Is overly concerned about remuneration and his own life style instead of his preaching. Ezekiel 34:2 The first and great overriding condemnation by God is that the pastors feed themselves instead of feeding their charge, the flock of God. We must admit that God's principles are that the local church is to give the pastor a livable wage or salary, and they are to even give him "double honor" if he ministers well, and the pastor is to live of the gospel. But when the balance becomes to great towards "feathering his own nest" instead of tending to his charge, then the pastor is not what he is supposed to be. The charge of God to the pastor is the same as the owner of sheep in Palestine to a shepherd of sheep, "whatever is wrong, fix it." What this means is that the pastor should confront all problems and resolve them however it is necessary to do so. A pastor who by-passes and ignores problems in the local church is not doing his job. We must give time to many matters, and we must labor over them in prayer, but some matters need to be confronted and dealt with instead of being prayed over. For example God rebuked Joshua in Joshua 7 because he was praying instead of rooting out sin in the camp. In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul rebukes the church for not confronting sin in their midst. Paul's comparison is that this is like kneading a lump of dough with leaven in it, soon it will saturate the entire lump if not stopped quickly and decisively. The preacher should preach, and he should do that well. Preachers that do not spend a lot of time preparing, and that includes study, prayer, and meditation, just are slighting their duties. Even the most scholarly preachers still spend many hours on a sermon if it is to be a good, effective sermon. Moreover, when a preacher spends a large portion of his time in other things (such as administration of a Christian school, counseling, writing, fellowship, or entertainment concerns) be careful. A person's priorities are reflected by his attention to that things, i.e. what he spends the most time, energy, and resources on is his highest priority. Beware when your pastor ... 2. Hurts more people than he helps. Ezekiel 34:2 The sense of "the diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken" is that he should be building up the flock so that they are not crippled by spiritual disease or sickness. The broken perhaps refers to the difficult crises of life that cause a person to become disabled or unfruitful and unproductive. Focus on our task as Christians. We must ask ourselves, "what should the sheep be normally doing that these diseases, sicknesses, and crises (brokenness) would hinder?" The answer is very simple, sheep are supposed to roam around after the pastor eating and feeding all they can get, and they are to reproduce more sheep, and give fruit (wool and milk). Christians then are supposed to go to church and feed on the Word of God that the pastor feeds them with. This Word of God explained (feeding grounds) is supposed to promote the Christian to bear spiritual fruit and to reproduce (evangelism). This evangelism is the mission of the church (Matthew 28:19-20). It is a single mission that must all come under the focus of the local church. The local church must evangelize the lost, baptize them (membership - integration) into the local church, and teach them all God has commanded us (discipleship so that they are just like the rest of the church). This is the work of God, and the sheep are supposed to be doing it, and the pastor is supposed to promoting it, making it happen. Moreover the Christian is to bear spiritual fruit. Let us mention what the Christians should be moved to produce from their "church experience". Gal 5:22-23 Love - The practice and attitude of placing somebody else before their own self. Seeking the benefit of another before your self. Joy - Happiness (well being) that is not necessarily linked to physical well being. Comfort or thoughts that overwhelms the person even if that person finds himself in conflict, affliction, distress, anguish, agony, or pain. Peace - The absence of conflict in the soul, even though outwardly the person may be in great conflicts. Longsuffering - Suffering long, waiting and having patience even though the events and pressures of life would force the person to immediate response, vengeance, attack, rebuke, conflict, or improper speech. Gentleness - Treating others softly instead of harshly and brutishly. Gentleness means not seeking to hurt others even when it is fully possible. Faith - Faith is belief. But much more than some doctrinal point somebody ascribes themselves to, faith is spiritual force to wait or go forward when the evidence before ones eyes is to the contrary. Meekness - This is to approach others as though you believe them to be better and superior to yourself. While it may not be so, still the meek person will treat others with this respect and dignity even though he himself may be a king. Temperance - Self-control. A control over one's self so that one does not indulge in sins and excesses of life. This is a strong control over oneself, or perhaps better put, it is a complete rendering of one's self to the control of God to decide and guide their life, actions and speech so that what a person does is God's will. KJV Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) The Christian is supposed to have his life full of all goodness and righteousness. Good is free from the element of sin. Righteousness is the opposite of sin. It is what we are supposed to be doing instead of sin. Truth is God's banner (identifying flag) over us. We are supposed to be champions of the truth. Beware when people claim to be Christians and tell lies to protect or promote their version of Christianity. No obedient Christian will use Satan's methods to do God's work. It just does not work. Beware when your pastor ... 3. Drives away people instead of gathering them. Ezekiel 34:4 KJV Ezekiel 34:4 brought that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost The biblical pastor will be active in evangelism. Any church or pastor that slights evangelism is making light of the verse heart of God. "For God so loved the world He sent ..." Evangelism is hard and discouraging, but it is the essence of God's work. We cannot get around it. We cannot use the world's methods, especially not Madison Avenue's methods to do God's work. We must use God's methods. Some pastors drive away and scatter the sheep instead of gathering them. This is seen by the pastor doing and saying things that drives people away from the Lord for unbiblical reasons. God's purpose is to change people so that they obey the will of God. When a pastor preaches the will of God, then at times he will drive disobedient people away from the Lord because they will not obey God's word. This is normal and not what we are talking about here. (Christ said he came to bring a sword into this world). What is a bad sign is when the pastor delights or accepts driving people away when there is no need to do so. For example, the pastor is sarcastic or bitter or sharp with his words when he could have said the same thing in a different way and not offend. The offense must always be between the individual and God, not the pastor and the individual. The pastor shows them God's word and they may get offended or repent and follow God's will. Another aspect of a good pastor is that he seeks the lost. This goes beyond evangelism. It goes to the pastor's relationship with his own sheep. When the pastor offends somebody, or somebody just stops coming or distances himself from the church, the good pastor will go out and seek that person seeking to "fix what is wrong" and restore that person into the fellowship as an active and fruitful member. Beware when your pastor's ... 4. Leadership style is marked with cruelty and force. Ezekiel 34:4 KJV Ezekiel 34:4 with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them "Force" here means excessive force, vehemence, might, strength. "Cruelty" means to break apart, to break down, to fracture, to use severity or cruelty, rigor. The idea is that the bad pastor is somebody who gets his will done no matter what. He is very forceful, and reserves all right for himself. Seldom is he ever wrong (in his own eyes), and even when he is wrong, he will ignore it and wants all others to ignore his errors, adhering absolute loyalty to his "always right" way. Beware when your pastor ... 5. Decides not to give pastoral counseling and get involved in correcting people's lives. Ezekiel 34:5 One of the most important points to understand about pastors is that they government the sheep. That "government" simply is that they make executive decisions for the welfare of the sheep. The word for shepherd (ra'ah) means and is translated on occasion, "to govern". They are personally responsible to God for their charge (Hebrews 13:17). This governing takes a public form in guiding the decisions of the local church, and a private form in personal one on one counseling. Public guiding of the church is done by preaching and teaching, setting the norms, understandings, and standards of that local church. Also he has the burden of biblically expositing the direction, activities, and work of the local church to set its course. He does not make these decisions privately, and the church simply obeys him, but rather he exposits biblically why and how we are to do what we do, and the church follows his leadership. His "validity" is not found in his authority (position) but rather in his right to "have the ear of the church". He feeds them daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, with information from God that illuminates the church, and is the pastor's principal means of governing. When a pastor comes to a person position in his own life in which he is not willing or able to "risk" giving counsel and getting involved in correcting the wrong in people's lives and in the church in general, he must be removed, either voluntarily or by the people of that church for failure to fulfill his primary work burden. Pastors today think that they can split and divide their work such that they personally do not have to do the "dirty job" of dealing with people's problems. This is the primary burden for the pastor. He gets his validity in everything else because he has helped the personal problems of his people and church. Bottom Line: Whatever is wrong, the pastor has to fix it however it has to be done.

Bible Verses About Respect: 20 Helpful Quotes by PAMELA ROSE WILLIAMS on DECEMBER 23, 2011 · Print Print · Email Email As a child I was taught to respect my elders, people in authority, my parents, my sisters and my neighbors. I was also taught to love and honor God. I am talking about things like, when the elderly man or woman needs a seat; give them yours. Or when the teacher tells you to do something; do it. Or at the checkout line in the grocery store, let the one with fewer items than you go ahead of you. Respect is a biblical principle that is becoming increasingly invisible in our world today. Respect, honor and esteem are very closely related words and in the Bible we see these words used interchangeably. Let’s take a look at some Bible verses about respect. Respect for the Lord Deuteronomy 6:4-5 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Romans 1:20-22 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools 1 Peter 3:14-6 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. Revelation 4:11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 5:11-12 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” Respect for Elders and People in Authority ... when the elderly man or woman needs a seat; give them yours Leviticus 19:32 “You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the LORD…” Romans 13:2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. Romans 13:7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. 1 Timothy 6:1-2 (KJV) Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. Respect for Family Members Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. Matthew 15:4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ Colossians 3:21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Ephesians 5:33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband Ephesians 6:2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise) Hebrews 12:9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. Respect for Neighbors and Others Philippians 2:3 (KJV) Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 1 Peter 2:17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. How Can You Help Keep Respect Alive? Teach your children these simple Biblical principles about respect. Respect begins at home and the best way to start is by instilling the Word of God into our children from birth. It is never too late to remember what the Lord commanded us to do in Deuteronomy 6:6-9 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Pre Trib rapture

The Pretribulation Rapture What is the Pretribulation Rapture? The rapture is an event that will take place sometime in the near future. Jesus will come in the air, catch up the Church from the earth, and then return to heaven with the Church. The Apostle Paul gave a clear description of the rapture event in his letters to the Thessalonians and Corinthians. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thess, 4:16-18). "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality" (1 Cor. 15:51-53). The timing of the rapture is not known. From the Word of God and from sound reasoning--something Jesus used quite frequently--I hope to prove the reality of the pretribulation rapture. The word "rapture" comes from Paul's "caught up" remark in verse 17. The words "caught up" are translated from the Greek word harpazo, which means "to carry off," "snatch up," or "grasp hastily." The translation from harpazo to "rapture" involved two steps: first, harpazo became the Latin word raptus; second, raptus became the English word "rapture." Scriptural Evidence for the Pretribulation Rapture The Unknown Hour When we search the Scriptures and read the passages describing the Lord Jesus' return, we find verses that tell us we won't know the day and hour of that event. Matthew 25:13 says Jesus will return at an unknown time, while Revelation 12:6 indicates that the Jews will have to wait on the Lord 1,260 days, starting when the Antichrist stands in the Temple of God and declares himself to be God (2 Thes 2:4). This event will take place at the mid-point of the seven-year tribulation (Dan 9:27). Note that some people only see a three-and-a-half-year tribulation. In a way, they are correct because the first half of the tribulation will be relatively peaceful compared to the second half. Nonetheless, peaceful or not, there still remains a seven-year period called the tribulation. When the Jews flee into the wilderness, they know that all they have to do is wait out those 1,260 days (Mat 24:16). There is no way to apply the phrase "neither the day nor the hour" to this situation. The only way for these two viewpoints to be true is to separate the two distinct events transpiring here: 1) the rapture of the Church, which comes before the tribulation; and 2) the return of Jesus to the earth, which takes place roughly seven years later. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb In Luke 12:36, the Word states that when Christ returns, He will be returning from a wedding. In Revelation 19:7-8, we read about the marriage itself. The marriage supper takes place before the marriage. According to Jewish custom, the marriage contract, which often includes a dowry, is drawn up first. The contract parallels the act of faith we use when we trust Jesus to be our Savior. The dowry is His life, which was used to purchase us. When it's time for the wedding, the groom goes to the bride's house unannounced. She comes out to meet him, and then he takes her to his father's house. This precisely correlates with the events according to the pre-trib scenario. Jesus, the Groom, comes down from heaven and calls up the Church, His Bride. After meeting in the air, He and His Bride return to His Father's house, heaven. The marriage supper itself will take place there, while down here on earth the final events of the tribulation will be playing out. After the marriage supper of Jewish tradition, the bride and groom are presented to the world as man and wife. This corresponds to the time when Jesus returns to earth accompanied by an army "clothed in fine linen, white and clean" (Rev 19:14). What They Didn't Teach You in History Class Many groups try to discredit the pre-trib rapture by saying most of the end-time events in the Bible have already taken place. A group of people called preterists claims that the Book of Revelation was mostly fulfilled by 70 AD. If the events described in the Book of Revelation took place in the past, I'm at a loss to explain some of the current situations I see around us: the rebirth of Israel, the reunification of Europe, the number of global wars that have occurred, and the development of nuclear weapons. During history class, I must have slept through the part where the teacher talked about the time when a third of the trees were burned up, 100-pound hailstones fell from the sky, and the sea turned into blood (Rev 8:7-8, 16:21). I think several people would have to question their opposition to the pre-trib rapture doctrine if they knew that the evidence provided to them was based on the understanding that most tribulation prophecies have already occurred. The People of the Millennium If Christ were to come back after the tribulation, rapture all the saints, and slay all the ungodly, who would be left to populate the earth during the millennium? Only the pre-trib viewpoint can account for this post-trib problem. The Church is raptured before the tribulation, a vast number of souls are saved during this seven-year time frame, and those who make it through the tribulation go into the millennium while the unsaved are cast into hell. The Saint U-Turn In the pre-trib scenario, after we rise to meet the Lord in the air, we will go to heaven and abide there seven years. At the end of that period, Christ will come down to earth, defeat the Antichrist, and cleanse the temple. In a post-trib rapture, we would rise in the air to meet the Lord, then do a 180-degree U-turn and come back down to earth. Revelation 1:7 states that Christ will appear out of the clouds and come down to earth. Zechariah 14:4 says that His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. If He's already headed our way, why would we need to be caught up to meet Him? "Come Up Hither" Many pre-trib writers cite Revelation 4:1, which says, "come up hither," as a prophetic reference to the rapture of the Church, leaving Revelation chapters 1 through 3 as a description of the Church Age. After the shout to "come up hither," the Church is not mentioned in Scripture at all. The attention of Scripture switches from the Church to the Jews living in Israel. Armies in Fine Linen When Jesus returns (Rev. 19:18), an army follows Him. The army's members are riding on white horses, and they are clothed in fine linen that is white and clean. In Revelation 19:8, we are told that the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints. If the saints of God are returning with Christ to wage war on the Antichrist, then it is not possible to have a post-trib rapture without us running into ourselves as we are coming and going. The Time of Jacob's Trouble In several passages, the Bible refers to the tribulation as a time of trouble for the Jews. The phrase "Jacob's trouble" pertains to the descendants of Jacob. Jeremiah 30:7 says that this time of trouble will come just before the Lord returns to save His people. The final week of Daniel's 70th week is yet to take place. An angel told Daniel that, "70 weeks are determined unto thy people" (Dan 9:24). Scripture never mentions that the tribulation is meant to be a time of testing for Christians. However, some post-tribbers try to claim that they are the ones being tested during the tribulation. To make this so, they need to spiritualize the 144,000 Jewish believers in Revelation 7:2-8 who receive God's protective seal. Placing the Church dispensation into the same time frame as the seven-year Jewish dispensation, as the post-tribbers do, raises one good question: Can two dispensations transpire at the same time? In the past, God has only dealt with one at a time. Having both present during the tribulation would have to be an exception. "He" That is Taken Out of the Way Before the Antichrist can be revealed, Paul said a certain "He" must be taken out of the way. According to 2 Thessalonians 2:7, the "He" that must be removed is widely thought to be the Holy Spirit. It has been promised that the Holy Spirit would never leave the Church, and without the working of the Holy Spirit remaining on earth, no one could be saved during the tribulation. The removal of the Church, which is indwelt by the Holy Ghost, would seem the best explanation for this dilemma. The working of the Holy Spirit could go on during the tribulation, but His influence would be diminished because of the missing Church. War or Rapture (Rev 19:19-21) When Jesus returns at the end of the tribulation, He will be coming for battle. For those who believe in a post-trib rapture, it would be strange to meet your Lord and Savior just as He's rushing into battle. The idea that war and rapture could occur together is difficult to imagine, especially since they transpire at the same moment. The Five Foolish Virgins The wedding story that Jesus gave in Matthew 25:2-13, I believe, is a parable of the rapture of the Church. It explains how some will not be ready. Jesus clearly states that a group of people will miss out on an event, and will cry out to God to let them into the place where He resides, heaven. Although some try to put this parable in a post-trib context, it doesn't fit very well. The ones left behind in a post-trib rapture will not need to seek the Lord because they'll immediately be confronted by Him and His army of angels. God Hath Not Appointed Us to Wrath In 1 Thessalonians 5:9, Paul assures us that God has not appointed His people to wrath. This wrath is plainly God's anger that will be poured out during the tribulation. Pre-trib believers interpret this as meaning that Christians will be removed from the earth. Post-trib believers tell a different story. They describe this as meaning that God will protect Christians during the tribulation and pour this wrath out on the unbelievers only. This idea runs against the statement made in Revelation 13:7, in which the Antichrist is given power to make war with the saints and to overcome them. A post-trib view would make God's promise of protection from wrath into a lie. In years past, it was possible to think of being protected from the guns and swords of that day. Today, when any major war would involve nuclear and chemical weapons, it's impossible to expect that same kind of protection. When Nagasaki, Japan was bombed during World War II, the bomb exploded over a Catholic church. Everyone who was in the center of the explosion died--both Christians and non-Christians. The only way to validly interpret God's promise of protection from wrath is by viewing 1 Thessalonians 5:9 as the bodily removal of the Church from this world. The Salt of the Earth Jesus said, "Ye are the salt of the earth" (Matthew 5:13). When the believers are supenly removed, the earth will be plunged into spiritual darkness. When this happens, the Antichrist will then be free to control the world. God Takes an Inventory In Revelation 7:3, an angel descends to earth and seals the servants of God. Two bits of information about this sealing highly disclaim a post-trib viewpoint. The first item is the number of people sealed: 144,000. The second one is that all those who are sealed are from the 12 tribes of Israel. For the events in Revelation 7:3-8 to be true in a post-trib interpretation, either the Church has turned against God or God has turned against the Church. A post-tribber could write a thousand-word commentary about why the Church doesn't need to be sealed. Instead of trying to argue about why the Church is not mentioned or sealed, a pre-trib proponent could just say, "We're already in heaven." Noah and Lot as Examples The tribulation period is compared to the times of Noah and Lot by Jesus in Luke 17:28. Most people argue over whether the time frame Jesus was talking about in that passage was pre-trib or post-trib. In doing so, they miss an important point. The two circumstances that the Noah and Lot situations have in common are the removal of the righteous and the judgment of the unbelievers. From these two accounts, we see that God prefers to remove His own when danger is involved. Common-Sense Reasons for Believing in the Pretribulation Rapture The World Test One way to check the soundness of a doctrine is to see how the world reacts to it. One company put out a questionnaire that was used to screen prospective employees. One of the questions was, "Do you believe in the rapture?" If you answered "yes," your chances of getting hired would not be good. Some internet sites do not allow the topics of Rapture or Second Coming. They do allow topics such as sex, gays, and drugs. The only time the news media mentions the rapture is when someone sets a date and is proven to be wrong. That Old-Time Religion It used to be a rule of thumb that when one was visiting a church or listening to a preacher, one could assume the preacher believed in repentance, prayer, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost if he taught the rapture doctrine. It was also true that the churches on fire for God worshipped out of storefronts. Today, many of those storefront churches have moved into marble palaces and have strayed from their principal doctrines. Birds of a Feather Flock Together Whenever I look at all the groups that teach false doctrine and are highly focused on end-time events, I cannot find any that support the rapture theory. Some organizations, the Jehovah's Witnesses, for example, teach a false gospel and are heavily into Bible prophecy. Why, then, don't Jehovah's Witnesses teach a false doctrine that would be right up their alley? Could it be that the demonic forces that influence these groups know something that Christians opposed to the rapture don't know? The list of prophetically minded cults that reject the idea of a rapture goes on and on. Here are some more: the Mormons, the Worldwide Church of God and the Moonies, as well as leaders like Jim Jones and David Koresh. The Church Would Rebuke the Antichrist If the Antichrist came to power with the Church still here, I do not see how he could operate. When Hitler was fighting to take over England, a number of Christians were praying for victory. Hitler made mistake after mistake, and England outperformed its enemy at every stage of the conflict. It is difficult to measure the impact of intercessory prayer in physical warfare. Little is known of how great a role praying saints played in the defeat of Nazi Germany. If the Church were to reside on earth during the tribulation, I am sure she would give the Antichrist fits. In Revelation 11:3, the two witnesses alone give the Antichrist enough headaches. Millions of Christians who know their Bibles well would recognize the man of sin and pray fire down on his head. The post-trib view would have to plan on the Church just rolling over and playing dead the whole seven years.

speaking well of man

"Woe to you when all men speak well of you......" Luke 6:26 Wow how liberating. The more they despise you, the greater the star you are on heaven's screen. I was reflecting many hardships tonight. The verse brought me great comfort. I rather be despised than have to face one of His "woes". Great blessings are being stored up in the next realm.

Breaen post

Amos 2:6-8 (6) Thus says the LORD: " For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for silver, And the poor for a pair of sandals. (7) They pant after the dust of the earth which is on the head of the poor, And pervert the way of the humble. A man and his father go in to the same girl, To defile My holy name. (8) They lie down by every altar on clothes taken in pledge, And drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god. New King James Version Change your email Bible version The Israelites' immorality fell into three major areas: 1) Indifference to and oppression of the poor. 2) Covetousness displayed by placing primary importance on material possessions. 3) Unrestricted promotion of self-advantage—doing anything to anyone to get their way. The Hebrew words for poor are very similar to our "underdog." Amos uses two different words, 'ebyôn and dal, to designate the poor (see Amos 4:1). 'Ebyôn usually designates the very poor, and dal describes the lowest social class. However, both words connote "wanting because of oppression or exploitation" and refer to the weaker members of society. To God the poor are those without the worldly resources or connections to defend themselves. As a result of their weakness, the wicked look upon the poor as fair game to exploit (Isaiah 10:1-2). Today, "poor" could refer to the small businessman or consumer at the mercy of the huge corporations, or the "little guy" under the thumb of "big" government. One of the means of oppression was the courts, and Amos frequently shows how the poor "took it on the chin" within the "justice" system. In a lawsuit the guilty party, one of the "strong," bribed the judge, who found the innocent person—the weak—guilty (Isaiah 5:23). As so often happens today in America, the ancient Israelites shunned out-of-court settlements. They went to court even over minor matters because their chances for a larger settlement were better. When a person was found guilty by the court, he, of course, had to pay a fine. If he did not have enough in his pocket to pay it, he could pay in produce. For example, a vintner could pay in wine. The victors then took their winnings—"the wine of the condemned"—and partied (Amos 2:8). They had turned into self-centered parasites who lived by the code, "get the other guy before he gets you." Israelites can be a mercenary, unmerciful lot of people. Obviously, God was not happy with this system of justice, and it is even worse now. Today's "wine of the condemned" awarded to the injured party—reaching into the millions of dollars—goes mostly for exorbitant lawyer and court fees. Governments of all sizes include expected fines from lawbreakers in their budgets. In addition, Israelites coveted real estate to the ridiculous extent that the buyer begrudged the small amount of dust the seller threw on his head to symbolize his grief over losing his ancestral properties (Amos 2:7). In a similar vein, God accuses the Jews of moving the boundaries between parcels of land (Hosea 5:10). In those days, instead of driving a stake into the ground to mark their property lines, landowners set up pillars of stones on the boundaries. God pictures the Jews kicking the boundary stones over a few feet when no one is looking. They may have justified it with, "Doesn't everybody do it?" but it was still outright theft. Because the strong could so easily exploit the weak, land and wealth in Israel fell into fewer and fewer hands. God cries, "Woe to those who join house to house, who add field to field, till there is no place where they may dwell alone in the midst of the land!" (Isaiah 5:8). It is no different than today's big international combines buying up farmland and displacing farmers, who must then find jobs, usually in urban areas. How soon we have forgotten that small family farms played a large role in keeping the United States economically and socially stable for generations! America's agrarian heartland was the backbone of the nation. We need to be aware that the resulting instability will lead us down the same path of destruction as it did Israel! "They lie down by every altar on clothes taken in pledge" (Amos 2:8). Under the Old Covenant, a person's cloak could be taken as security for a loan, but Exodus 22:26-27 shows that it was to be returned every evening if it doubled as his blanket at night. God considers keeping a poor man's coat overnight as taking advantage of him. Remember, our judgment from God largely depends on how we treat our fellow man (Matthew 25:33-46). Good relationships with others are vital to maintaining a good relationship with God (Matthew 5:23-24). This means we must always do the right things toward others no matter how much it hurts us (Psalm 15:4) or how they might react (Matthew 5:44-45). — John W. Ritenbaugh

intro to How big is your forgiveness?

Publication Date: October 13, 2011 Understanding the power of forgiveness. Perhaps your offender or abuser is deceased, and you feel no forgiveness is necessary, but it is for many reasons. As we walk through the maze of forgiveness, it will amaze you as the power and relief in letting go of harmful things that can destroy you. This book How Big Is Your Forgiveness is based on Joseph's life after being sold, and intertwined with others today, young women who have been horribly abused but overcame it by the power of forgiveness. A beautiful blond young woman kidnapped from her room, another brown haired child kidnapped on her way to school, an Iranian lady who was blinded by acid by her ex suitor, only as retribution came into focus, she could have blinded him as he had her but she forgave. Again I ask How Big Is Your Forgiveness?

MARK OF BEAST AFTER THE RAPTURE

BE COMFORTED AND STRENGTHENED IN THE MASTERS SERVICE FAITH WALKER Bible Question:Does the mark of the beast come before or after the rapture? Bible Answer: The next major event in human history, from God's perspective, is the preaching of the gospel throughout the entire world (Matt. 24:14), and then comes the rapture. We are awaiting the spread of the gospel throughout the entire world. When the rapture occurs all the Christians will be removed from the earth. The illustration below provides an overview of the order of future events. The rapture comes first (saints are removed) followed by seven years of tribulation (a period of suffering), the kingdom (1,000 year period), and then an eternal life in heaven or hell. Rapture In The End Times The mark of the beast occurs during the tribulation period. In the Tribulation, two very powerful individuals come to power. Both are empowered by Satan. The first one is a political leader (2 Thess 2:1-4; Rev. 13;1-10) who is called the Antichrist. He is the leader of the a future world government. The second beast is called the false prophet (Rev. 13:11-18; 19:20-21). He is a religious leader. This is the one who forces people to receive the mark "666" in order to buy or sell (Rev. 13:16-17). Who are these individuals? Who will be these beasts? The world will not know for sure until it happens at the middle of the tribulation period. But when he does appear he can be identified as the one . . . . . . who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. (NASB) 2 Thessalonians 2:4 Conclusion:The rapture comes first at the beginning of the Tribulation and the mark of the beast, "666," occurs after the rapture and sometime after the middle of the tribulation. Christians will not be present during the tribulation period but many will be saved as they search to understand what has happened. We can only assume that they will listen to past recorded sermons, read books about Jesus, and watch recorded videos. Many will have their sins forgiven as they believe in Jesus and depend on Him. Many will also die as a result of disbelief. Now is the time to believe in Jesus and let him take over our life.

DUSTY GLOBE

Donna Schmier 5 minutes ago Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised. I trust you to will see the lesson the Lord showed me this morning, it is quite profound. I am a World globe collector every size and color. I have a lead blue crystal globe with intricate maps it was on a very high shelf and I was re arranging so I took it down. Guys the lesson HE taught---the dust covered the globe with a very thick blanket of dust and grime. As I cleaned this treasure, I marveled at the fact OUR LORD loved each of us enough to die for us on that rugged tree- North South East West it matters not HE CREATED THIS EARTH and each person on it. The dust is VERY SIGIFINACNT for he made man from the dust of the earth (GENESIS 1) and the sin that covers this earth as was in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, and days of Noah, is soon to be washed away and cleansed by HIS PURGING, the globe will be NEW and fresh even as my blue globe is after it’s through cleansing!! That said get your cleaning gear on and watch how HE will transform some area of your life. I collect world globes for it is written: Mark 16:15-16 King James Version (KJV) 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. The Great Commission is followed at HIS design and will. And as one of HIS WATCHMEN: Ezekiel 33 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; . BE BLESSED IN THE MASTERS SERVICE FAITH WALKER

SEE WHY I LOVE TREES!!!!

Be IN THE MASTERS SERVICE FAITH WALKER Watch the Trees By Daymond Duck Jesus told us to watch for His coming because we don’t know the day or the hour (Matthew 24:42; 25:13). He told us to watch lest He come and find us sleeping (Mark 13:33-37). He told us to watch and pray that we will be accounted worthy to escape all the things that are coming upon the earth (Luke 21:36). He told us to watch or He would come upon us as a thief (Revelation 3:3). And Paul told us to watch and be sober (1 Thessalonians 5:6). So we should watch, but “What should we be watching for?” Concerning His return, Jesus said: “Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away” (Luke 21:29-33). So Jesus said watch all the trees, but pay specific attention to one particular tree (the fig tree). But someone could ask, “So we should watch the fig tree and all the trees, but why?” In the Old Testament, God compared Judah to a cedar tree and its king (Jehoiakim) to the highest branch in that cedar tree (Ezekiel 17:3-4, 12). God compared Assyria to a cedar tree with fair branches whose height (stature, greatness and power) was exalted above all the trees of the field (nations of the world) (Ezekiel 31:3-6). In the New Testament, John the Baptist appeared to refer to Israel as a worthless tree (Luke 3:8-9). Jesus definitely referred to the fig tree as a sign of His return (Matthew 24:32-33). And the fig tree is clearly a symbol of Israel (Hosea 9:10; Jeremiah 24:1-10). So the fig tree is Israel and all the other trees are all the other nations. Then, concerning the Second Coming of Jesus, we should watch Israel and all the other nations. We should watch the fig tree (Israel) because that tiny nation must exist for many prophecies to be fulfilled. Israel must exist for the Antichrist to confirm a treaty for seven years of peace between Israel and the PA that will trigger the Tribulation period (Daniel 9:27; 1 Thessalonians 5:3). Israel must exist before all prophecy can be fulfilled, before the Jews accept Jesus as their Messiah, etc. (Daniel 9:24). Israel must exist to rebuild the Temple before the Antichrist can sit in it and show himself that he is God (2 Thessalonians 2:4). Israel must exist to rebuild the Temple and resume the animal sacrifices before the Antichrist can stop them at the middle of the Tribulation period (Daniel 9:27). Israel must exist before the Jews in Judea can flee into the wilderness when the Antichrist defiles the Temple (Matthew 24:15-16). Israel must exist before the battle of Gog and Magog can take place in the latter days and latter years (Ezekiel 38-39). Israel must exist before Jesus can rescue her at the battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19:11-21). The existence of the fig tree is a prelude to the fulfillment of major Second Coming prophecies. We should watch all the other trees (nations) because the Antichrist will try to force all the nations into a world government (Daniel 7:23; Revelation 13:7) and that is the purpose of the New World Order. All the nations of the earth must experience economic problems and high food prices (Revelation 6:5-6) and many are predicting a global economic collapse at some point in 2014. The Antichrist will rise to power in a revived EU (Daniel 9:26) and the EU now exists, and some are calling for a super-president. The nations must divide Israel (Joel 3:2) and that is what the two-state solution is all about. The nations surrounding Israel must desire Jerusalem enough to attack Israel (Zechariah 12:2) and that is being negotiated under threat of an Intifada, right now. Syria and Israel must go to war with each other (Isaiah 17:1-14) and both are threatening each other right now. Egypt must get into a civil war, come under the rule of a cruel leader, experience high unemployment, etc. (Isaiah 19:1-22) and that is the situation today. Russia and several Islamic nations, including Iran, must go to war with Israel (Ezekiel 38-39) and that could happen very soon. The Euphrates River must dry up so China and her allies can move into the Middle East (Revelation 16:12) and dams and drought are making that possible. The trees have a message for those who will listen. I don’t know that it is true, but I have read that the fig tree is one of the last trees to leaf out during the spring in Israel. Leaves on the fig tree are a sure-sign that summer is near. In like manner, the return of Israel along with today’s global and national events—are a sure sign that the world is running out of time. So to all the born-again tree watchers, Jesus commanded you to know that it is near, even at the doors. And He added that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled (Matthew 24:33-34). But to all who are not born-again Jesus said ye must be born-again (John 3:7). Otherwise, your future is bleak.

SATAN/SANTA EXPOSED!!

The Devil Is In Your Chimney! Is Santa Claus, Satan? A Special True Christian™ Report Concerning the Origin of Santa Claus Santa Claus is a Pervert and Satan in DisguiseFreehold, Iowa - Satan's evil plan has created jobs for hundreds of thousands of old lecherous pedophiles throughout this Godly country every December. These filthy homeless hobos just lay on their urine-stained cardboard beds 11 months out of the year, dreaming of Christmas when they can drunkenly traipse into the warmth of departments stores and have innocent little Christian children sit on their vermin-infested laps. Unwary parents happily snap pictures while Satan's obesely wheezing drunks ask their children whether they've been "bad" and whisper lewd suggestions in their angelic little ears with their filthy booze-breath and cigarette-discolored lips. How many unsuspecting tots have suffered a quick grope before Satan's little helper moves on to the next hopeful child in line? People think that Halloween is the time of year that Satan dresses up, but this is just flat-out wrong. See? The Devil will always try to fool you! Halloween is when Satan delights in watching humans dress in ways that will ensure them entry into the Devil's realm. But it is Christmas time that the Devil saves for himself! It is then when he puts on his most devious costume! And it takes no Sherlock Holmes to see that the Devil's annual disguise is none other than Santa! He even wears his favorite color -- demon red. Even his last name, "Claus," is Olde English for "hoof-claws." Lucifer may be the wiliest of all the deceitful demons that ever drew breath of fire in Hell, but he was pretty sloppy when he decided to try to spoil our Savior's birthday with this disguise. His big devil ego got the better of him when he decided to name his Christmas Anti-Christ after himself. He just moved around the letters in the name, "Satan," into one of them sonograms and got "Santa." Well, this is to put the Prince of Darkness on notice: We are on to you Satan! And we unmask you and heartily rebuke you! Get thee hence from our Christ's birthday party! Satan once was God's favorite angel. But he tried a heavenly coup and God should have by all rights killed him right then and there. But God, being all that is good, gave him his very own place to rule and called it Hell. And even though God gave Satan free reign to tempt as many people as he wanted (even Christ Himself!) and lots of fabulous stuff to tempt them with (like eternal youth and Lincoln Continentals), Satan was still not satisfied. It made him jealous that Americans have made Christmas the most important retail event of the year, far overshadowing Satan's own holiday, Halloween. So Satan has tried to undermine Christmas by making Santa even more popular than Jesus! You don't think so? Even the law of the land forbids a baby Jesus in the town square, but who is there instead? You guessed it! Santa! Every time a so-called Christian child asks Santa for something, he is praying to Satan. With each request fulfilled, parents are unwittingly making a pact with the Devil. They may as well be writing in blood, "Satan please distract our children from Jesus with all these shiny toys!" But you know what? When your little boys and girls have grown up and no longer believe that Santa is real, they will find out just how real Satan is when he comes to collect their souls in exchange for all those presents! And God will turn a deaf ear to their pathetic wails of desperation. God will say, "You were more interested in that fat demon who was giving you presents than my Son who was giving you salvation, so you can all rot in Hell for all I care!" So talk to your children before it is too late! Tell them that Santa is no kindly old man; he is an evil demon. And next time your family sees some propped up gin-soaked vagrant in a Mall wearing a red suit with white furry cuffs, set a good example and witness for the other deluded people waiting in line. Loudly, rebuke him! Announce to all the children in the store "Not only is Santa a lie, he will ravage you sexually, drink your blood and drag your palpating carcasses down to Hell with him!" It is only through setting a good example that we can put the Christ back in Christmas.
