Jeremiah 5:21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: Playing the game of gossip, one speaks a secret in the ear of their neighbor, then they pass it to their neighbor and as it passes the circle when it gets back to the beginning, the words are never the same. A childish game played at parties yet it really has a profound meaning. Words can be and most of the time are twisted into some foolish meaning the ‘secret’ may have been the sky is blue, but passed around many times came back to the original person as I ate a fly’, One’s failure to listen and heed warnings is really a tragedy waiting to happen. Warnings like do not text and drive, avoid standing water while driving, turn around do not drown, warnings abound but there are those who will NOT listen. Rebellious and stubborn people will NOT LISTEN, their ways and ideas are far superior to those with the warnings. As the contractor draws up the construction plans for a new house, always has the warnings concerning the ground stability, the electrical access and the neighborhood. How tragic would it be if neither thought nor consideration given to the warnings and instructions of other employees? NOT LISTENING would cost the entire construction job resulting in the loss of thousands. Jesus spoke often about not counting the cost. Luke 14:28-30 Not being able to complete a project brings embarrassment and delay in plans. Delays can be catastrophic and the outcome severe. God always gives warnings before disaster strikes. Nothing surprises the Father and he is so full of compassion he MUST warn his children and the lost as well. Joel 1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. After 9/11 then President Bush stood on top of a vehicle—he began to speak but a person from the crowd yelled ‘We can’t hear you’ so he spoke even more loudly his words shot around the world in record speed. President Bush—without a teleprompter or speechwriter prompting him, said the words millions of Americans desperately needed to hear at that very moment: “I can hear you! I can hear you, the rest of the world hears you, and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!” Those words of comfort for a desperate Nation that day seemed to calm the masses, but they HAD TO LISTEN not just think they heard it. Same principal applies to both Christian and non Christians it is one thing to listen it is another to hear. Deliberately Choosing to ignore the many warnings, having the warnings mocked and jeered, the Hollywood jet set have set themselves up for hell and the results of- their foolish ideas and assessments of their self inflated egos. The millions can NOT save anyone from hell, and the deaths of two most recent mega stars underscore the possibility they were not saved but instead ‘sold their soul’ to the devil for fame and riches only to hear the screams of the dammed as they fall endlessly into the abyss, the flames licking at them, the screams are their own. Such a fate await all who have mocked the name of Jesus, reject Jesus and been rebellious, the mark of the beast await them as well the terror I cannot explain, but it is there with spindly flaming FINGERS . How can anyone hear either of the world or from the Lord if their ears are dulled and they will not hear? Matthew 13:15. For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Healing here would also mean save them from hell because the soul would be healed. WHY a person would chose NOT to listen to warnings that have been shouted from the roof tops so to speak? It is so very dangerous NOT TO LISTEN. Posted along the beaches from California coast warn about shark attacks and rip tides! To go deliberately into the water against the warnings places you in serious peril and even death by an attack from a shark or the sucking down of the rip tide!! As the life is so very precious even more the soul, which will never die—to imagine the soul burning eternally with feeling and remembrance is a serious matter. Mark 9:48 48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. So as I ‘read your lips I’m not listening’ it is with great sorrow to realize there are many who chose that same route and have made their decisions. As a watchman/watch woman my job is to warn and HE KNOWS who will listen and who will not so perhaps your fate is already sealed. Points to Ponder: #1 Have YOU counted the cost of where you will spend eternity? #2 WHY does it make you angry when your kids will NOT LISTEN yet you don’t heed the warnings about your soul!! #3 Has this chapter Read My Lips I’m Not Listening made you think about your destination? #4 Is your heart tender for hearing and acting on sound advice?
