And God Laughs
And God Laughs
By Gene Lawley
In Psalm 2 the Lord laughs and holds those in derision who plan to take over the nations and rule without God’s involvement. They plan to write Him out of history.
But God laughs!
Here is the context in Psalm 2:1-5:
“Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, ‘Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!’ He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury…”
Likely, much like those conspiring together at the Tower of Babel, that early incident in the beginning of the formation of that seven-headed beast that John writes of in Revelation 13. The wisdom of man, apart from God, looks upon the belief in and obedience to the God of the universe as foolishness. The avowed evolutionists prefer to die in unbelief rather than
submit to the truth that God is God, sovereign and supreme!
Take the case of the late Stephen Jay Gould, who, when he could not find the link between man and beast, that “missing link.” He invented a very scientifically sounding term to explain its “undeniable existence” (that was his firm mindset). He called it “punctuated equilibrium.”
Sounds very intelligent and sophisticated, doesn’t it? It really means nothing, and God would laugh at that foolishness. Mr. Gould died in 2002 and apparently did not have an opportunity to add substance to his “scientific” theory.
Man’s idea of spirituality and the road to heaven (when they think there is one) always seems to be one of his own making, whether of pomp and ceremony, “Having the appearance of godliness but denying the power thereof ” as Paul writes (1 Timothy 4:5), or at the lower end, where man is a god to himself. God takes the foolish in the eyes of the world and delivers His message to those who will listen. A Redeemer coming as a babe in an animal’s feed trough, growing up among His peers as one who was also touched with the feelings of our weaknesses, yet without sinning! (Hebrews 4:15) Truly God’s way is not man’s way.
He came to die, for He was foreshadowed by the sacrifice of the pure and unblemished lamb on the altar. As John the Baptist declared by the river Jordan, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”
The most laughable tactic, however, seems to be displayed daily in our current events.
The framers of the “One World Order” provide that picture of futile effort, which is becoming more and more evident. No intent here, of course, to downplay the seriousness of those concentrated efforts to bring about that global entity of which they would be in charge as the ruling elite.
If we recall Henry Kissinger’s jubilant burst of enthusiasm just after Barack Obama’s election in 2008—“He has been primed to lead us into a New World Order”—and look objectively over the broad area of developments in America and our foreign policies since then, we can understand the depth of the meaning of that word “primed.”
Records show, though denied by the mainstream media and national leaders, Obama knew he was being groomed to become president of the United States, even while he was registered as a “foreign” student at Columbia University. Talk about long-range planning! Go figure. Those framers mean business. Like Napoleon of old, the “objective is set; the obstacles must get out of the way!”
But God…laughs!
The one world government, which is to be the seventh head of that beast in John’s vision in Revelation 13:1, arises out of a long lineage of people who have the Tower of Babel mindset. They operate in what I call “The Tower of Babel Syndrome,” which says, “We will build this tower into the heavens and there is no God who will stop us!” And it may look like that is just what is going to happen!
Acts 15.18 says: “Known to God from eternity are all His works.” And those who are responding to the challenge of Jesus, to “watch, for you do not know what hour your master may return” are vividly aware of the truth in His further statement, “As you see these things begin to happen, look up, for your redemption draws near.” Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, knows the beginning from the end.
At His appointed time, when the people of the world are going about their daily activities—buying and selling, marrying and giving in marriage, planting, building—and suddenly, just as it was when Noah went into his ark, and Lot went out of the city of Sodom, and great destruction came upon those left there, so it will be with the coming of the Lord (Luke 17:26-30).
“For you know perfectly that the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, for when they shall say, ‘Peace and safety’, then shall sudden destruction come upon them…”(1 Thessalonians 5:2-3).
And God laughs—not in humor or joy, but in derision and with deep sadness, I’m sure.
For “He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
