For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:12-13 KJV

Can a CHRISTIAN be cursed

Christian cursed, curse believer Question: "Can a Christian be cursed? Will God allow a curse on a believer?" Answer: The Bible tells us that “like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest” (Proverbs 26:2b). This means that foolish curses have no effect. God does not allow His children to be cursed. God is sovereign. No one has the power to curse one whom God has decided to bless. God is the only One able to pronounce judgment. “Spells” in the Bible are always described negatively. Deuteronomy 18:10-11 numbers those who cast spells with those who commit other acts “detestable to the LORD” such as child sacrifice, witchcraft, sorcery, divination, or necromancy (consulting with the dead). Micah 5:12 says that God will destroy witchcraft and those who cast spells. Revelation 18 describes spells as part of the deception that will be used by the antichrist and his “great city of Babylon” (v. 21-24). Though the end-times deception will be so great that even the elect would be deceived if God did not protect us (Matthew 24:24), God will utterly destroy Satan, the antichrist, and all who follow them (Revelation chapters 19-20). The Christian has been born again as a new person in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and we are in the constant presence of the Holy Spirit who lives within us and under whose protection we exist (Romans 8:11). We do not need to worry about anyone casting any sort of pagan spell on us. Voodoo, witchcraft, hexes, and curses have no power over us because they come from Satan, and we know that “the one who is in you [Christ] is greater than the one [Satan] who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). God has overcome him, and we have been freed to worship God without fear (John 8:36). “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? ” (Psalm 27:1). Read more: http://www.gotquestions.org/Christian-cursed.html#ixzz2rHpTD9R5

Children and the Rapture

By Terry James Most always the confutation over the issue of children and the rapture of the church is wrapped around the scripture: “For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy” (1 Cor. 7:14). The Character of God The very character of God, himself, is at the heart of the issues involved in the question that is raised quite often. “What about children and the rapture? Will they stay on earth, or go to be with Christ?” And, there is nothing of more profound eternal significance than the individual human being’s consideration of God’s character. The all-importance of that consideration is cocooned within the words of Jesus Christ, himself, at the center of whom God’s great character is made manifest for fallen mankind. “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets” (Matt. 16:13-14). Jesus’ question was straight from the heart of God. Jesus was God come to the earth in the flesh. Therefore, He, of course, knew what the people were saying about Him. He wanted His disciples to consider the question through spiritual eyes and ears, regarding themselves, individually. His follow-up question asked plainly: “He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?” (Matt. 16:15). The totality of scripture which went before Jesus asked the question, and all scripture that came after He asked the question, encapsulates –attests to—the holy, loving, merciful character of mankind’s Creator. His question is directed not to corporate mankind, however, but to each and every individual who has lived upon earth since He asked it. How each one of us answers that specific question Jesus asked will determine each and every individual’s position in Jesus Christ. The individual answer you and I and every other person give to that specific question Jesus asked will determine where you, I, or any other individual spends eternity. And, make no mistake, each and every person who has or ever will live –and that means from conception onward—will spend eternity in one of two places: either in hell, or in heaven. The coming into existence of the creature called man, and the fall from walking perfectly with the Creator is a matter for another study. Suffice it to say that a quick perusal of any newspaper or a quick listen to any news story will attest to man’s fallen state. We human beings do not walk a perfect walk. We sin, and come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). The fact is that we need redemption –we must have reconciliation with God, our Creator, or we remain lost forever. And, keep in mind, the matter is based not upon a corporate or collective relationship, but upon an individual relationship with God. And, this is where the awesome, loving grace – the very character of the Lord God-- comes into view. God’s Word says,” The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9). We are each fallen. We need God’s grace gift of salvation. It is an individual need. Each of us must come to repentance for the sin into which we were born because of the fall of our father, Adam. God’s holiness requires blood sacrifice for remission of sin (Heb. 9: 22; 10:18). And, this is why God, himself, in the form of His Son Jesus Christ –the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world-- came to die on the cross at Calvary. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16). About each of us –you, me, and every other person—God’s Word says further: “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (Jn. 3:18). Remember this verse; it is profoundly important to looking at the matter of children and the rapture of the Church. Belief Essential Man is born into sin because the first man (Adam) disobeyed or rebelled against his Creator. The human blood line has been, since that time, polluted, contaminated by the horrible thing called sin. Because of Adam’s fall, disease, deterioration, decay, and death entered the world, God’s Word says. God has provided reconciliation with himself for human beings –redemption, through the blood sacrifice of His holy, perfect sacrificial lamb, His Son, Jesus Christ. Now, all can be saved through belief in Jesus as the only way back to God the Creator. Jesus is the way –the only way, truth and life. No one comes to God the Father (the Creator) except through belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, and what He did on the cross at Calvary (read John 14:6). Belief is absolutely essential. This is the sort of faith Jesus spoke to Thomas about, when Thomas doubted that Jesus had resurrected after the crucifixion. When Thomas saw Jesus stand among the disciples, the Lord, having passed through solid matter to be with them, and Jesus bid Thomas to touch His wounds, Thomas believed, and could but mutter, “My Lord, and My God!" Jesus then said: “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (Jn 20:29). Jesus, with that statement, was, I’m convinced, looking not only at the disciples who were in that room, but down through time to all who would believe in His death, burial, and resurrection for salvation. So, “belief” is absolutely essential--the kind of belief that saves, in order to be “born again” (John 3: 3) into God’s eternal family. The Apostle Paul gave the precise formula required by God for the salvation of the individual soul: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom. 10:9-10). This is what is required to assure salvation for the individual soul. This places the person in God’s family through Christ Jesus--i.e, when the individual believes in the way Paul, through divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, plainly tells us, that person is saved. That is, God no longer looks at the person as fallen, as rebellious, as a sinner, but now looks at the individual through His Son Jesus. God now sees the “believer” through the prism of the shed blood of His precious Son. About that, God’s Word says: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Rom. 8:1). It is obvious beyond any rationale to the contrary that this sort of belief –belief that brings one into the very family of God for all of eternity-- must be a belief that requires understanding that Jesus is the way –the ONLY way to such a position in God’s family. And, it is clear, according to God’s Word, that that position is gained through belief in Christ, totally, with no other prescription as antidote to the soul-destroying venom called sin. In other words, each individual’s soul owes his place in God’s family for eternity to what Jesus –alone—has done for that individual. So, it is the person’s position in Christ –through his or her belief—that God looks at in the matter of whether the individual is “saved.” To come to this “salvation” position, the individual must “believe." There must be a cognitive decision to achieve the position in Christ that saves the individual’s soul. Remember the Scripture: “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (Jn. 3:18). Position in Jesus Christ The soul of the individual comes into existence at the moment of conception –the moment the Lord gives that life within the womb. I won’t argue the point. God’s Word says without reservation that life begins at conception. We could go into a study of that truth, but that’s for another time and space. Suffice it to say that God gives the soul at conception, and it becomes more than obvious when studying records of children in the womb. Two examples are Jacob and his twin brother, Esau, struggling within the womb of their mother. Another is the account of John, who would become the baptizer, who recognized the Messiah, Jesus, who was in His mother’s womb when the two women were in the same proximity. Children in the womb are living beings –with God-given souls. These babies have certain abilities to think, and, in John’s case, certainly, a supernatural understanding about the fact he and his mother were in the presence of God, himself, come to earth in the flesh. However, it is a fact understood by anyone, with any common sense whatever, that a child in the womb, or for the first, formative years of life, are incapable of coming to comprehension of anything like making a decision about where his or her soul will spend eternity. These little ones are sinners every bit as much as any adult human being. The difference is the adult –presuming he or she hasn’t a severe mental incapacitation-- can understand, and make decisions about things like whether to accept Christ for salvation. These are therefore “accountable” for their belief or lack thereof. The child, whose reasoning powers haven’t reached that conceptual level of functioning, are not yet “accountable” for whether they believe to the point of salvation. The adult whom the Holy Spirit has called to salvation through Jesus Christ is “accountable” for his or her own soul at the point he or she then accepts or rejects. The child is not called to salvation because he or she hasn’t, at that point in his or her young life, achieved through growth the cognitive ability to make such decisions. These are not “accountable.” The child who hasn’t reached the “age of accountability” has a position in Jesus Christ, the same as the adult who has “believed” unto salvation. If the child were to die before becoming responsible for his or her own decision to accept or reject Christ, that child would go directly into the presence of God, for all eternity. Remember King David. He put off his robes of mourning for his baby when the son died, because David said that the baby couldn’t come to him, but that he, David, would go to the child. The baby was in heaven with God, for all of eternity, where King David would surely go upon his death. We know this is where David would go, because God called him “a man after my own heart.” So, the position we, as individuals (not collectively) have in Jesus Christ, is the determining factor –the all-important matter—in considering where you or I –or any person will spend eternity. All children before they reach the age of accountability are positioned securely in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose shed blood is the only remission for the soul-destroying thing called sin. Rapture a Salvation Issue The rapture of the Church is a salvation issue. These realities –rapture and salvation--are inexorably linked in God’s great economy. This truth is based upon a vast body of scriptural proof text, but is wrapped up by the Apostle Paul in one particular scripture, I think: “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ…”(1 Thes. 5:9). Paul, again through divine inspiration, had just gone through the facts surrounding the rapture of believers ( the Church). He used the personal pronouns "we," "us," "your," etc., as opposed to "they," "them," etc., to separate believers from unbelievers. Believers (Christians of the Church Age) were not, Paul said, appointed to wrath, because they were children of the day (the light found in Christ). The unbelievers were children of the night –the sin-blackened darkness of the fallen realm. Paul prophesied that the day of the Lord will begin like a thief-in-the-night experience. The children of the night would be taken by surprise, but the children of the day (believers) would escape the coming wrath of God, which the day of the Lord will bring upon a rebellious world of earth-dwellers. This escape from God’s wrath will come, Paul said, through salvation, which is in Christ Jesus. The individual’s position in Christ will provide the escape. This is the same escape foretold by Jesus –through John—in Revelation 3: 10: “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (Rev. 3:10). Children below the age of accountability are individual souls within Christ’s salvation –the salvation that keeps the individual believer out of hell, eternally apart from the Creator –out of the time of God’s wrath, which will come upon the whole world of rebellious earth-dwellers –unbelievers. Again, God does not deal with human beings collectively, or corporately, when it comes to salvation of the soul. He, mercifully, deals with us one on one. Jesus asks each of us: “Who do you say that I am?” Unbelievers are those who, individually, have rejected the Holy Spirit’s call to salvation. Each will be left behind at the time of the rapture. Children, like all of lost mankind, are sinners, but those who haven’t reached the age of being able to understand God’s grace gift are not unbelievers. They are covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. They are, individually, in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Lamb’s Book of Life Let us look for a moment at this all-important volume God calls “The Lamb’s Book of Life.” This book is crucial to your and my souls, and to the soul of each and every individual human being who has ever been born –or who has died in the womb, before having a chance to draw a first breath. Here are two relevant scripture passages on that Book. “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels” (Rev. 3:5). “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither [whatsoever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life” (Rev. 21:27). God’s Word is telling us here that there is a volume in which every human being’s name is written at some point. None whose name isn’t written in this book can enter into God’s holy presence for eternity. The word “Life” in the title of this book is "eternal" life. Every human being who has been conceived in the procreation process has his or her name written in the “Lamb’s Book of Life.”But, there is obviously the chance that one’s name can be blotted out of that book, according to Revelation 3:5. Since it is not possible for one to lose his or her salvation once the person has “believed” in the only begotten Son of God, the term “blot out” in Revelation 3:5 needs to be explained. The meaning becomes clear, when thinking on the fact that each and every individual’s name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. The name remains there until the person is shown that he or she is a sinner, and is convicted or called by the Holy Spirit to repent of sin –to “believe” in the Lord Jesus Christ. When the person fully realizes that call, and that Jesus is the ONLY way to reconciliation with God the Father, but refuses or rejects God’s grace gift offer, that name is “blotted out” of the Lamb’s Book of Life. The individual who rejects that grace gift offer of salvation until his or her death will die in sin and spend eternity apart from his or her Creator. That person who has reached the age of accountability for his or her soul will also be left behind, when the Rapture occurs. The name will be written back in that book when the individual subsequently accepts the Lord Jesus as the Savior of his or her soul. Jesus Christ’s shed blood is the only payment God the Father accepts. But, once a person accepts that free gift from the Lord Jesus, the individual is a member of God’s family –forever. So, your and my position in Christ is the all-important thing, whether considering going to heaven when we die, or going to heaven at the rapture, when Jesus comes for us to take us to our home, which He, personally, has prepared for each of us, individually. (Read John 14: 1-4.) This is the only collective family gathering that counts in God’s economy, in consideration of the matter of the rapture and Salvation. We will, collectively at the rapture, go home to be in God the Father’s house. Here on earth, our relationship with our earthly parents is tremendously important, of course. But, it is our place in our heavenly family, and in our heavenly home that is absolutely crucial. This is an eternal matter. And, it all relies upon our position in Jesus Christ, not upon our position in our earthly home, or upon the spiritual condition of our parents. Yes, but what about this? A number of questions about the rapture and children crop up consistently. I thought it good to look at a couple of them. Q. Why do you believe children will be taken in the rapture, when God hasn’t intervened for them in wars, and other horrible things that have happened to the children throughout the centuries? Why do you think God will keep them out of the tribulation, when millions have died, and continue to die? A. These are two different matters entirely. This question involves physical death versus spiritual death (the second death, as the Scripture puts it.) It is the death of the flesh versus the death of the soul of an individual. Sin brought death to the flesh and to the soul (physical and spiritual death), but Christ brings eternal life. That is what I’ve spent the bulk of the article addressing. Wars and other terrible things on earth indeed take physical life –especially, it seems, the lives of innocent children. Unrepented sin takes the soul in death (eternal separation from the soul-giver –God, the Creator). It is comforting to know –according to God’s Word—that all children who have perished over the millennia have gone directly to be with the Lord. Not one single one of them has died in the eternal sense. Again, these are two separate issues –physical death versus spiritual death. The rapture is in the realm of the spiritual or the eternal sphere. Q. But, won't there be children in the tribulation? Jesus says so in His Olivet Discourse. A. Yes, the Lord does prophesy there will be children during the time of tribulation. He foretells the following: “And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!” (Matt. 24:19). Notice carefully. Jesus issues a special “woe” for the parents of children in the time of tribulation. But, the Lord specifically gives two ages of children, here: 1) children who are nursing, and 2) children still in the womb. There is absolutely no mention of older children. These children will be those born AFTER the Rapture. And, there will doubtless be millions upon millions born. Sexual debauchery will explode, as the Holy Spirit withdraws from governing the consciences of men and women (read 2 Thess. 2). No doubt, most of these little ones will perish in the horrors of that time. As many as two-thirds of all mankind will die during that period. Not fair of God, you say? Consider this: Every single child who is born after the rapture will spend eternity with God the Father. None will have reached the age of accountability by the time Jesus Christ brings this decaying, dying world to an end as recorded in Revelation 19:11. For those who are thinking ahead of me, I realize that children who go into the millennium under the age of accountability will have to make the decision to accept Christ for salvation at some point. As stated in the beginning of the article, God’s very character is at stake in the matter of whether ALL children (below the age of accountability) will go to be with Jesus at the electrifying moment of rapture. What, exactly, is wrapped up in 1 Corinthians 7:14 is a matter for another study. But, this much the overall context of God’s Word, when speaking to salvation matters—plainly, and loudly proclaims. The Bible teaches that the individual’s position in Christ, not his or her position in the physical family here on earth, determines the final disposition of the eternal soul. The rapture is an eternal matter, wrapped up in God’s salvation guarantee. And, it is a guarantee to the individual, not to the corporate –even though the collective will go as the Bride of Christ, the Church. Every child below the age of accountability –including those in the womb—will go to be with Jesus when He steps out on the clouds of glory and shouts: “Come up here!”

MAN IN DEMAND

Today's man is often not readily recognizable as such. He gives no real attention to his physical appearance, has a poor work ethic, and fails to implement basic etiquette and social awareness. Worse, he is sexually promiscuous, spiritually unaware and self-centered. In fact, he's not much of a man at all besides his gender. The world wants—and needs—real men. More importantly, God wants real men to follow Him and present an example worthy of imitation. While it is possible to reach manhood without much help or guidance, it's far more likely an adolescent boy trained in the art of Christian manliness will grow into the kind of adult he ought to be. Man in Demand offers just that kind of training through a series of cartoon illustrations, Bible studies and practical information. Young men are advised on personal hygiene and good grooming, the right clothes to wear, how to carry a conversation, keeping fit, how to date girls, and all kinds of important matters that distinguish the men from the boys. A number of charts help boys chart their progress and offer visual incentives for improving themselves. A teacher's book offers parents or Sunday school instructors hints for presenting the material. At the same time, students could easily work through the training manual themselves, or teachers can use the student book to teach the course without spending money on an extra volume. The Student Training Manual is a black and white consumable book—it cannot be reproduced. Man in Demand was originally published in 1975, and the cultural context definitely shows through. Many of the specific difficulties encountered by youths have been replaced by others (for instance, marijuana use is far less prevalent now than it was 30 years ago), and sometimes the language and attempts at slang will seem silly or incomprehensible to many readers. Still, the values presented and promoted by Wayne and Emily Hunter are generally good guidelines for young men to observe, and are clearly presented and accessible even for today's young men.

Verse of the day

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 KJV

lying to God

76 Ananias and Sapphira Question: "Why did God kill Ananias and Sapphira for lying?" Answer: The story of Ananias and Sapphira is found in Acts 5, and it is a sad story, indeed. It actually begins at the end of chapter 4 with the description of the early church in Jerusalem, a group of believers so filled with the Holy Spirit that they were of one heart and one mind. Great power and grace were on the apostles, including Peter and John, who preached and taught and testified of the risen Savior. So knit together were the hearts of the people that they held all their possessions loosely and willingly shared them with one another, not because they were coerced, but because they loved one another. Those who sold land and houses gave the profits to the apostles, who distributed it to those in need. Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, sold a field and laid the proceeds at the feet of the apostles who were the leaders of the church in Jerusalem (Acts 4:32-37). Two of the members of this group were Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, who also had sold a field. But the profits from this sale were kept in part by the couple, and only a part was laid at the apostles’ feet by Ananias. This hypocritical show fooled no one, especially not Peter who was filled with the power of the Spirit. Peter knew instantly that Ananias was lying not to him, but to God and exposed his hypocrisy then and there. Ananias fell down and died (Acts 5:4). When Sapphira showed up, she, too, lied to Peter and to God, saying that they had donated the entire proceeds of the sale of the land to the church. When her lie had been exposed, she fell down and died at Peter’s feet. It has been speculated by some that these two deaths were from natural causes. Perhaps one of the two might have died from shock or guilt, but the fact that both fell down instantly and died indicates that God did indeed bring about their deaths. The question is why. Why would God kill two people for lying when there were much more grievous sins committed by the early Christians that went unpunished? Peter, for instance, had lied to several people about knowing Jesus the night before the crucifixion. Surely there were worse sins than lying about a piece of property. God’s reasons for bringing about the deaths of Ananias and Sapphira involve His abhorrence of sin, the unbelief of the two people and the lesson for the rest of the church, both then and now. With the emphasis of the modern church on God’s love and mercy, how easy it can be to gloss over the holiness of God, to forget that He is righteous and pure and that He hates sin with every fiber of His being. This particular sin of hypocrisy and an attempt to deceive God shows the contempt with which Ananias and Sapphira viewed the nature and character of God. Further, they had no concept of the power of God to see their hearts. The Bible tells us that God hates liars, His anger burns against the wicked every day, and those who plot evil in their hearts will be destroyed in an instant (Proverbs 6:12-17; Psalm 7:11). It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:29, 31), especially for the man or woman who attempts to insult the Spirit of grace. The drastic punishment of instant death also served to expose Ananias and Sapphira as unbelievers in the midst of the redeemed of God. Unlike the rest of the church, covetousness had filled their hearts, along with a desire for glory, so much so that they shamelessly displayed their religiosity. Their hidden sins manifested themselves in an ultimate act of hypocrisy. There was no fear of God before their eyes (Romans 3:18), and their unbelief led them to completely misunderstand the power that had been evident in the apostles’ lives and teaching. Only a heart unredeemed by the Savior could prompt such behavior. Finally, the sudden death of the two served to purify and warn the church. This awful act certainly impressed upon the church and the world the danger and guilt of hypocrisy. Jesus knew that religious hypocrisy would be one of the most insidious and deadly foes to the purity of the church (Matthew 23; Luke 12:1), and at the church’s very beginning, therefore, He set up this solemn warning to guard it and laid the bodies of Ananias and Sapphira in the path of every hypocrite that would enter the church. Furthermore, the apostles were just then establishing their authority in the church. They claimed to be under the influence of inspiration. To establish that, it was necessary to show that they could know the views and motives of those who became connected with the church. If the hypocrisy of Ananias and Sapphira succeeded in fooling the apostles, it would destroy their authority and their claim to infallibility. But if they showed that they could detect sin through the power of the Holy Spirit, even where most artfully concealed, it would establish the divine authority of their message. At the very start of their work, therefore, they gave this decisive and most awful proof that they were under the guidance of an infallible Teacher. The sad story of Ananias and Sapphira is not some obscure incident from the Old Testament regarding a violation of the Mosaic Law. This occurred in the first-century church to professing believers in Jesus Christ. They sat under powerful preaching and teaching by those who had been with Jesus for three years and who were filled with the Spirit. But they proved to be tares among the wheat, and their story is a reminder to us today that God looks at our hearts, not our outward professions (1 Samuel 16:7), that He hates sin and will punish it, and that He is concerned for the purity of His church (1 Corinthians 11; 1 John 5). I AM adopted

Adoption - What does the Bible have to say? When speaking about adoption, most Christian presentations focus on God's decision to adopt us. Romans 8:15 tells us our adoption gives us the right to call God "Abba Father." Ephesians 1:5 (NASB) says that God adopts us "according to the kind intention of His will." Our ultimate spiritual state is held up as the definitive view of adoption. Which is too bad because, while God's adoption of us exemplifies the spirituality of adoption, there is a much better illustration of the practical side. The most famous adoption announcement is rarely seen as such. It's found in Matthew 1:18-25: Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, 'Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.' All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 'Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel' (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus. God chose His Son to be adopted. God incarnate was adopted. People have myriad reasons why they don't want to adopt—including that they don't want to raise another man's child. This passage destroys those arguments. God didn't have to arrange for Joseph to adopt Jesus. He could have found another way to support Mary and her child. But in this act, God forever establishes the honor of raising another's child as well as the perfect acceptability of having parents who are not blood relation. Two of the greatest and most godly leaders in the Old Testament were also adopted. Moses was adopted by an Egyptian princess (Exodus 2:1-10). Samuel, the holy prophet of God, was fostered by Eli (1 Samuel 1-2). Both were chosen by God to lead His people to worship Him. Adoption also fulfills the definition of true religion. James 1:27 reads, "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." Like many verbs in the Bible, "visit" is much deeper and more active than the English would suggest. It means to look after, have a care for, provide for, furnish with necessary things. There are few more significant ways to care for an orphan than to take him into your home and give him a family. There is no legitimate argument that can be made against the concept of adoption. Whether adoption is right for an individual family is between that family and God. Adoption isn't always easy, and it's usually expensive. But it is absolutely biblical. If adoption was good enough for the Son of God, then it is a blessing for His people. Read more: http://www.compellingtruth.org/Bible-adoption.html#ixzz2qBlpGISY

WORMWOOD

Donna Schmier WATER WATER EVERT WHERE AND NOT A DROP TO DRINK-FROM MOBY DICK--that was fiction THIS IS NOT!!!! Consider the super polluted air with radiation and now with 1/3 of all vegetation gone, the lack of oxygen they provide. An even greater tragedy is all the green grains are burned up. With famine already raging in many parts of the world and scarcity of food everywhere else, this will seal the doom of millions. Perhaps the lucky ones will be those who die in the explosions. 8:9-11 "And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed." "And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;" "And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter." The Third Trumpet - A Star Called Wormwood - Tim Lahaye states than when the third angel blows his trumpet, another meteorite crashes to earth, "burning like a torch." It does not fall on the sea but on a third of the earth's rivers and springs, turning them "bitter" and poisonous. As a result of this plague, "many men" die. "Now this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth." (Zech. 14 v.12)

What is hidden

Nothing Hidden By Grant Phillips The problem with taking one verse of Scripture and then rendering an opinion on what is being said can be seen in the three passages I have chosen. In this instance, I am examining the thought that all of our sins, public and private, will be exposed for all to see at the judgment. Many people, even Christians, believe this. I have even heard it preached from the pulpits on several occasions. So, the question is, “Are all of our sins exposed for all to see at the judgment?” Now I need to ask another question, “Which judgment?” I’ll come back to this at the end of this commentary. FIRST VERSE: “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.” 1 Corinthians 4:5 It seems, by reading this one verse, that all the hidden sins we have ever committed will be exposed to the light by God for all to see. FIRST VERSE REVIEWED: “This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.” 1 Corinthians 4:1-5 (ESV) To get a very clear picture of what is going on we actually need to read, at least, the chapter before and after our verse, but I have chosen the four verses before verse five to keep this article at a reasonable length. Just as some do today, the Corinthians were choosing sides as to their favorite preacher. Some liked Peter (Cephas) better perhaps because he was actually with Jesus for three years. Others may have preferred Apollos because he was a better speaker and had more charisma. Others may have chosen Paul because of his passion. Who knows? For whatever reason, they had their favorites. To get right to the point, Paul is telling them that he, Peter and Apollos are merely servants of Christ and any praise they receive, if any, will come from Him. Their work will be examined by Jesus himself, and they will be rewarded accordingly. If you will read further, you will notice that the Corinthians were even getting pretty haughty about this, thinking more of themselves than they should. Jesus Christ will judge the intentions of our service to Him. For example, if we are serving Him for our glory, it will show up based upon the reward we receive or do not receive. If our intentions are 80% for Christ and 20% for us, it will be shown, and if they are 100% for Christ they will be shown. Paul spoke of this in 1 Corinthians 3:11-15. Therefore, this is the true intent of 1 Corinthians 4:5, our verse above, our true intentions will be revealed, and then we will praise Christ. SECOND VERSE: “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.” Luke 12:2 Again, it appears that the judgment is going to be very embarrassing for us all, since we all have sins we have tried to cover and hide. SECOND VERSE REVIEWED: “In the meantime, when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops. “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!” Luke 12:1-5 (ESV) Here I have chosen the first five verses to review verse two of Luke twelve, but also read chapter eleven verses 39-54. The religious leaders of that day were claiming to speak for God, but were they? We know now that they were not speaking for God. How do we know that? One reason is obvious they were standing face to face with God in the flesh and hated Him. Most of the Jews at that time though did not see through the hypocrisy of these religious leaders, but one day their hypocrisy will be revealed. Many religious leaders of today claim to be speaking on behalf of God, but are just as hypocritical as the religious leaders of Jesus’ day. They too will be exposed as charlatans. As we saw in 1 Corinthians chapter four, our true intents will be exposed. Those who are not of God will be judged, and those who do belong to God will be rewarded with “gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble.” Please read 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 again. THIRD VERSE: “For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.” Mark 4:22 It isn’t getting any better is it? We already know, I hope, that nothing is hidden from God and now it is obvious that our nasty deeds won’t be hidden from anyone else either. THIRD VERSE REVIEWED: “And he said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand? For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” Mark 4:21-25 (ESV) Read Mark 3:22-4:34 This whole section is talking about the kingdom of God and Jesus speaking in parables. The religious leaders who came down from Jerusalem crossed the line. They actually accused Jesus of being possessed by Satan and working under Satan’s power. From this point onward Jesus speaks to the crowds in parables and then explains the parables to His true followers. In verse eleven of chapter four Jesus tells His disciples that they are permitted to understand the mystery (secret) of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside would only hear them in parables (stories). This was done to fulfill the Scriptures, and the Scriptures relating to this are found in Isaiah 6:9-10. The lamp or light that Jesus is referring to is the mystery the Apostle Paul spoke of many times. Jesus is telling His disciples in the parable of the lamp that this mystery kingdom of God is about to be revealed. All that God has hidden before will now be revealed. Furthermore, those who are open to Christ’s teaching will have even more revealed to them, but those who don’t want to hear it will lose out. SUMMATION: In all of this we are dealing with two categories of people; i.e. those born-again, and those not born-again, the saved and the lost. I asked the question at the beginning of this commentary, “Which judgment?” Basically, there are five judgments: time of Jacob’s trouble (Tribulation), judgment of living nations, judgment of fallen angels, the great white throne judgment and the judgment seat of Christ. As a child of God, saved by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, where do I stand under the grace of God? Will my sorry, pathetic, sinful life be exposed for all to behold? Looking at the judgments mentioned above, I won’t be at the judgment of the time of Jacob’s trouble, or as it is commonly called, the Tribulation. So that’s out. I am not a nation. I am an individual. So that’s out. I am not an angel, fallen or otherwise. So that’s out. Only those not born-again in Jesus will stand for judgment at the great white throne. Since I’m born-again (a Christian), that’s out. The judgment seat of Christ is the last one, and I’ll be there. We have discussed this. Remember? 1 Corinthians 3:11-15. Thank God, there is no judgment or revelation of my many sins against God. This is a judgment of my works. Are they done for His glory or mine? Will I receive any rewards? What will they be, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble, or some of each? This is a judgment of rewards, not condemnation! “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:1 “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 Is it possible there could be some Christians thinking, “Great, now I can keep on with my “secret” sin and no one is the wiser!” God is the wiser. He is our Father in Heaven, and He doesn’t take disobedience lightly. Believe me He knows how to get our attention when he needs to. Don’t push it. If this is the way you think, you may not be His child. Think long and hard about that. What about the lost, those not born-again in Christ? Will all their sins be revealed to one and all? I think they will be, because they have never asked to be forgiven of their sins. They have never trusted and followed Jesus, who takes the sins of His sheep upon Himself. The most important thing though, they will be shown every opportunity they had to believe on Jesus and every time they ignored Him or just right out said, “No.” Keep this verse in mind: “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:14 Our works, Christians and non-Christians, will stand or fall before Him. If our works rest in Jesus they will be accepted, because they glorify Him. If our works rest in us, they will be rejected. As a Christian we will lose our reward (not salvation), and as a non-Christian the soul remains condemned to hell. My only work for salvation is that, by the faith He supplied, I trusted in His Son to be saved. My work as a Christian is to glorify Him. That is all we can claim if we are His. HONEY CINNIMON

I have many requests to re-post this! So here it is again! PLEASE SHARE To SAVE be sure to click photo then click SHARE so it will store on your personal page. Great information!! Cinnamon and Honey...! Drug companies won't like this one getting around. Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mix of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also note honey as very effective medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without side effects which is also a plus. I AM THE LORD I CHANGE NOT!!

The mayor of a Texas city is raising some eyebrows after he officially declared 2014 the “year of the Bible.” MyFoxDFW.com reports Tom Hayden, the mayor of Flower Mound, made the declaration at a city council meeting last month. Hayden says he had considered making the declaration for two years because he wants his community to connect through the Bible, and finally decided to do so in 2014. "There's so much benevolence on helping your fellow person," Hayden told MyFoxDFW.com. "And the morality that helped build our country is based on the values that are found in the Bible. And as we look at problems, maybe we're getting away from those values. And in my little small way, I want to encourage people to get back into those values." Hayden hopes to do so by encouraging all the residents of his town to read the entire Bible together in a year. Daily passages will be posted on a website called thebible2014.com, which was created by the Calvary Chapel of Flower Mound “as a connecting point to fulfill the Mayor’s vision.” However, some residents are not sold on the mayor’s idea. "He was elected mayor," Curt Orton told MyFoxDFW.com. "Not as the spiritual leader of Flower Mound." Hayden’s move is not without precedent. President Reagan made a similar declaration in 1983, and Hayden references Reagan and other presidents in his declaration.
